Claire’s video edits have, incredibly, multiplied and evolved over the last year+. Avatar may be just about the best show ever, but she just keeps plugging away and adding edits for new shows and now video games on avatar.verse.
Here’s an edit from one of her favorite shows, Natuto. I love the music she picks, too!
Inspired by her sister’s early (and quite lucky) success on YouTube, Molly decided to go ahead and start her own YouTube channel. She’s old enough now to be like, “I’m just going to do this, thank you very much.” After some initial basic help from me, she figured out almost everything on her own. 🤯 Here is her premier video, a silent Roblox screencast.
I was curious to see how serious Molly was about her YouTube channel. Now, four months into this experiment, she has amazed me!
Like a true productivity expert, Molly has set mini-goals for herself. For example, “post three videos” or “get 10 subscribers”. I love that she intuitively knew to tackle her progress in small chunks like that!
At this point, Molly has 27 videos posted on her channel! The newer ones have sound. They have captions. They are nicely edited. And I helped her with none of them. I’m really proud of Molly for sticking with this.
Her videos are all about video gamer screen captures.
Most of Molly’s videos get only a handful or views and likes, or in some cases none at all. But she still sticks with it. She’s capped out at 31 followers and brainstorming ways to get more viewers.
Claire has started the fascinating new hobby of making video edits with clips from Avatar: The Last Airbender. ☺️ She had seen a few edits on Instagram and decided to do her own!
To get started, Claire asked me if she could buy Video Star for the iPad. At first, I thought this was just a silly little editing app. But she can do amazing things with it! I was stunned to watch Claire just figure out on her own how to make beautiful edits with this app.
Claire has been wanting to start her own YouTube channel, focused on acting out stories with her My Little Pony toys. We finally got in online!
Here is the first creation in Claire’s series, which is a story straight from Claire’s imagination with a running time of about 15 minutes. Claire was the “idea man” in this effort, writing and acting out the concept. I did the camera work and editing. Claire has been working on other concepts with her nanny, Jackie.
Claire calls her channel My Little Pony Mysteries and More. The “mysteries” part refers to her plan to open “blind bags” for some of her videos. I am hoping to get Claire into stop animation and do some extra cool stuff.
Claire is a huge fan of “collector” channels on YouTube, like Disney Collector and Bin’s Toy Bin. Forget boring old TV, Claire is glued exclusively to these niche channels (and My Little Pony). She even sent a fan latter to Bin and hopes it will be read on YouTube next week.
Following is an original story that Claire write in her second grade class. Claire wrote two drafts by hand, then her teacher typed out the final story.
She has been building little houses for them, grinding up and refrigerating food for them, and even making a park and pond for them in the backyard. She really believes in fairies. Or she may have a rational clue they are not strictly speaking “real”, but that is a secondary concern because fairies are just so magical and sweet.
Claire checked out a “non fiction” book about fairies from the school library. It tells all about the lives of “faeries”, as the book calls them, and Faeland, where they live. It is all quite convincing and cute, and it is fun to pretend along with Claire (even though she knows that I know fairies aren’t exactly real.)
