This picture describes our current life pretty well. Elmo underwear and an empty bottle of Mexican Coke. Yep, somehow that captures it pretty well right there.

Claire on Winter
Claire and I were talking about the summer ending and fall, and eventually winter, coming on. I told Claire the days would get cooler and maybe wetter, and it would get dark earlier in the day. After a while, it would even be dark when she wakes up and dark well before bed time, even before she comes home from school.
“That sounds pretty nice!”, Claire said hopefully. Then after a pause, “But not really nice.” That is as good of a summary of winter in central Texas as I have ever heard.
Kid-proof no more
It’s official. Kid-proof packages don’t work on Claire any more. At least, she has defeated the safety packaging on her Claratin. The good news is that I no longer have to unwrap the Claratin for her in the morning. I just hand her the package. Luckily, she is also old enough to understand not to have more than one.
Art Portfolio
The short-lived art-samples feature has been converted to a portfolio. The new format seems to make more sense for art samples.
Check out the new portfolio page for the girls’ art. The portfolio will be continually (if intermittently) updated with their latest work. It also has some other cool pictures that the girls did not do, but you can pick to see Claire and Molly’s pictures specifically.
Claire’s picks
Including the “Tutty Bear” that she bought at the recent King Tut exhibit, so far Claire has spent every cent of her allowance on stuffed animals and stickers. I was curious what Claire would buy for herself if she had free reign, and so far this seems about right. 🙂
All you care about
Claire has recently told me, “All you care about is boring stuff like swimming and work.” Claire has also observed that all her mom cares about is “clothes and hair.”
I think this paints a slightly humorous picture of Kit and myself, like a really traditional family from the 1950’s, and I’m not sure what to make of it. Mostly, I guess Claire has discovered the new phrase “all you care about”. That is okay with me. It never comes out in anger, and it is a nice alternative to crying and screaming about these topics.
Pull my finger
When I was about to unpack Molly from the car today when she looked at me and said with a smile, “Pull my finger!” her little index finger was outstretched, waiting for me. Like a sucker, I pulled her finger. She just smiled, no fart sound or anything. But she did get me in a sense… Her finger was all slimy and greasy from snot or something. And within a few days, I was sick. So I guess the laugh was on me. 🙂
